New Project – Ottumwa Study

LYNCHBURG, VA — November 3, 2016

TRAX has been awarded a new project by Riley Power, and will perform a furnace draft study for the Alliant Energy Ottumwa Plant.  Ottumwa Unit 1 is being updated is being updated with a new selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system and new ID fan blades.

TRAX had previously developed dynamic models of the furnace draft portion of Unit 1, and will now update those models to match the current process equipment and controls in the plant.  The models with be subjected to a number of severe transients representing normal and abnormal operation.  The primary goal of this study will be to predict the behavior of the unit with the new ID fans and SCR in place.  TRAX will examine the new equipment and new control logic that is part of this furnace draft study for compliance with NFPA 85 code, and make recommended changes to bring the proposed system into compliance.
